Welcome to Pamalama Jo Designs!
When a retired teacher is also a quilting grandmother, and a new grandson is on his way, creative things can happen. This is the story of Pamalama Jo Designs. As my daughter and I planned and prepared the nursery (in winter, 2016) I designed Ocean Friends. A local quilt shop manager loved my drawings and my daughter’s color palette, and challenged me to make and publish a pattern. I took the challenge. The pattern was published in May 2016, and Pamalama Jo Designs began.
Beginning with some forest animals I’d drawn for the older two siblings’ quilts, I designed my second pattern, Forest Friends: Hide and Seek. It was released Thanksgiving week, 2016. Like the first pattern, Forest Friends features whimsical animal appliques.
Texas Treasures is here! The Lone Star state is the star of this newest quilt pattern! Wonky scrappy star blocks alternate with ten animal appliques. Iconic western “critters” are included: roadrunner, rattlesnake, coyote, jackrabbit, horned toad, armadillo and more! A red, white and blue sawtooth border completes the quilt design.
